A random assortment of PS1 classics are immediately getting deemed unplayable by the PS3 and Vita. As of late, Twitter and Reddit customers are reporting points with outdated PS1 variations of video games like Chrono Cross and Chrono Set off saying their recreation has “expired,” making it unable in addition.
What’s much more weird is the dates displayed for these video games are removed from near the present 12 months. Twitter consumer Christopher Fosse, for instance, was advised that his recreation expired in 1969, but he purchased and feasibly performed the sport in 2014.
So did @PlayStation expire the PSOne Classics variations of #ChronoCross and #ChronoTrigger by setting the date on new downloads to 12/31/1969? That is stopping me from enjoying my bought copies on Vita and PS3. @ModernVintageG @dark1x pic.twitter.com/wxRebNIZWh

Kotaku explains that is doubtless a bug or glitch on Sony’s half regarding Unix epoch, which is early engineers plastering a date for the beginning of a system’s lifespan. This bug or glitch seems to be slashing an assortment of outdated PS1 classics and rendering them unplayable.
In fact, it’s exhausting to say whether or not Sony will care sufficient to repair this concern as they’ve long-since proven indicators of not caring about their older generations pre-PS4, even going so far as shuttering the PSP retailer and nearly shuttering the Vita and PS3’s as properly.
