Intel confirms the leak of its Alder Lake BIOS’ source code: Should you be concerned?

Chip-maker Intel has reportedly confirmed that its ‘Alder Lake BIOS’ supply code has been leaked by a third-party on nameless imageboard web site 4chan and Microsoft-owned open supply developer platform Github, in a 6GB file containing instruments and code for constructing and optimising ‘BIOS/UEFI’ pictures.

The working of the ‘BIOS/UEFI’ code of the pc is to initialise the {hardware} earlier than the working system has loaded, reviews Tom’s {Hardware} web site.

The corporate stated in a press release that “Our proprietary UEFI code seems to have been leaked by a 3rd celebration”.

Additionally, Intel stated there should not be any safety associated points because it would not “depend on obfuscation of knowledge as a safety measure”.

Furthermore, Intel in its ‘Challenge Circuit Breaker’ bug bounty programme, encourages researchers to submit any vulnerabilities they discover, which can award them an quantity between $500 to $100,000 per bug, relying on the reported situation’s severity.
