Everybody has their ideas on acquisitions and mergers and the Microsoft-Activision merger is not any exception. Because it seems business veteran Mark Darrah believes this Activision-Blizzard merger to be dangerous for the business within the long-run.

Throughout a YouTube Q&A on his channel (through TweakTown), the ex-BioWare worker, who left the corporate in 2021 after over 20 years,  gave his two-cents on the matter. He doesn’t consider we’ll see the dangerous facet instantly, as a substitute we’re extra more likely to see the net-positive, as Activision-Blizzard is in dire want of management shakeups and to “clear out the darkish corners of the factor.”

The consolidation drawback comes later down the road when Microsoft begins instinctually wanting to regulate prices and inevitably stifle any form of creativity Activision-Blizzard needs to discover. Darrah does give some form of optimistic finish by reminding folks that is probably a great factor for the Name of Responsibility developer within the long-run as this might repair most of the management and “frat home” controversies.

Darrah’s full ideas on Activision-Blizzard buy:

“I can say that consolidation might be a foul factor in the long term. Microsoft shopping for Activision-Blizzard hopefully is an effective factor within the brief time period as a result of it looks like culturally Activision-Blizzard wants somebody to go in there with a leaf blower and clear out the darkish corners of the factor. However long-term consolidation is normally a foul factor as a result of after you have adequate management, you begin wanting to regulate prices, and it means sometimes creativity goes down, risk-taking goes down. So in all probability dangerous within the long-term, perhaps good within the case of Activision-Blizzard within the short-term although.”
