Online game films have been seeing an enormous resurgence lately, with the Sonic films and The Tremendous Mario Bros. Film being the largest of examples of this. The checklist is about to get even longer, because of the announcement of one other franchise that might be getting a film.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Amazon Studios, Unanimous Media and Story Kitchen are engaged on a ToeJam and Earl film. Resort Transylvania 4 writers Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo will “pen the screenplay”. The ToeJam and Earl franchise have had 4 recreation releases, 2 of which launched on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. The primary recreation launched in 1991. The latest launch was ToeJam & Earl: Again In The Groove in 2019.
