E3 2023 has been canceled, as first reported by IGN. This follows a number of online game publishers and corporations pulling out of the upcoming Digital Leisure Expo over the previous few weeks.

Avenue Fighter 6 Has The Greatest Coaching Mode I’ve Ever Seen

In a report revealed on March 30, IGN mentioned that two sources have confirmed with the outlet that the Leisure Software program Affiliation (the group behind E3) despatched emails to ESA members asserting the cancelation.

Reportedly, in these emails, the ESA mentioned that whereas E3 continues to be a “beloved occasion and model” the upcoming 2023 expo had merely not garnered the “sustained curiosity essential to execute it in a approach that may showcase the scale, power, and affect of our trade.” The e-mail then ended with the ESA mentioning its continued dedication to advocacy work.

G/O Media could get a fee

Shortly after the IGN report was revealed, the official E3 Twitter account confirmed the information with this assertion:

ReedPop and the Leisure Software program Affiliation (ESA) have introduced that each the digital and bodily occasions for E3 2023 are cancelled.

E3 2023 was set to start out on June 13 and finish on June 16.  Kotaku has contacted ReedPop about E3 2023.

Whereas it hadn’t been formally confirmed by the ESA or E3 organizer ReedPop earlier than this report, many had began to query if the annual tradeshow was going to really occur or not. This previous Monday, March 27, Ubisoft confirmed it was not attending the present. Earlier studies had steered Sony was skipping E3 this 12 months, too. And Microsoft had already confirmed it wasn’t going to be on the present flooring. It was beginning to seem to be if the present did occur, it could be a little bit of a ghost city.

E3 has skilled some tough occasions lately. Earlier than the pandemic hit, the occasion was already struggling for relevance.

In 2020, the expo was canceled because of covid-19. In 2021, it returned as a digital-only present. Nonetheless, the 2022 model of the present was canceled once more in March of final 12 months. ReedPop later mentioned in July 2022 that E3 would “return to type” in 2023. And I assume it was proper, simply not in the best way it anticipated.
